I was born in South Dakota, and currently live in Lanikai Beach Hawaii. I was born the fifth of eight children, age wise I am right in the middle. Just in case you’re wondering…no, my parents are not Catholic, they just love each other 🙂
When I was very young I found a deep respect and love for words and books. I broadened my vocabulary and learned how to solve problems through words.
I attended Jackson Hole Writers Convention in 2011 and it was great! The first thing the speaker said is that most writers are introverts. We could be perfectly happy with a computer and a desk chair. But there are certain times in life when you need to stop writing and start smiling at your peers. Social media is the biggest wink of all.
My husband Mike makes everything easier. Mike, myself, and our three year old puppy are finally settled in. We have paradise right outside our door, and happy vacationers all around us. It’s the perfect place for nature to be powerful, calming, and beautiful at the same time.

a book in review!

Brief Summary:

Princess, Southern belle, and spoiled-rotten social climber Searcy Roberts swore on a stack of Bibles she’d never return home to Fairhope, Alabama. After marrying her high school sweetheart and moving to Atlanta, Searcy embraces big-city life—Carrie Bradshaw style.

But now, Searcy has a teeny, tiny problem. Her husband’s had a mid-life crisis. He’s quit his job, cancelled her credit cards, and left her for another man.

Searcy returns to Fairhope, ready to lick her wounds. But when her mother falls ill, she’s thrust into managing the family business—only to discover the beloved bakery is in danger of closing its doors forever.

Enlisting the help of the adorable bike store owner next door, an array of well-heeled customers, and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Searcy hatches the plan of the century to save Pie Girls.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. From the fashionable life Searcy lived, to the not so fashionable life Searcy lived, it was a great read. You felt like you were living each moment with Searcy. She is an extremely likeable lead and you’ll be rooting for her from the beginning! You’ll be on a roller coaster ride of emotions-sad, angry, happy…it’ll hit em all! This 4.5 star read is everything good about chick lit wrapped into one delicious story, xo!

Look of the Week!

Okay, I’m finally getting back to this weekly series (I know, I know, I’m the worst-trust me, you aren’t the first person to think so…) These two looks are from who I think is by far the most stylish gal I work with. She kills every season and is the best at mixing it up. Take note, ladies, this is how you make office chic work.

A huge thank you to one of my best friends, Mikhaila for letting me show you her AH-MAZ-ING sense of style. She’s not only a fashionista, but one of my rocks as well! Love you, Mik, xo!

My favorite Texan, Aven is back today to talk fall fashion…here’s her top 5 must haves-my bank account is already crying cause I MUST get all 5 items, ASAP, xo!

My Top Five Fashion Must Have Items for this Fall

Kayla has generously allowed me to guest post on her blog again (BRAVE WOMAN I TELL YOU) and since I’m kind of…obsessed with fashion, I decided to share my Top Five Must Have items for my fall wardrobe. So let’s talk fashion, shall we?

  • Animal Print Loafer. I still love the smoking slippers that hit the scene last fall, and when I saw them coming back this year, I knew they were going to be a staple shoe this season. Think of the options: with white jeans and chambray shirt, with jeans and black T-shirt and cardigan, with black pants and a sweater, or play the wild card and mix them in with plaid. You can’t go wrong with these.
  • Chambray/Denim Shirts. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am these are back in style! I purchased one of each for this fall/winter season. You know those short chunky knit sweaters you’ve been seeing in stores? Throw one over the top of your denim shirt and you’re stylish and casual for the weekend.
  • Cropped Sweater. This trend is awesome for layering. Over a plaid shirt, over a denim shirt, a crisp white shirt…Brilliant.
  • Faux Leather Leggings or Pencil Skirt. I love these items! It adds a modern twist to any outfit and a bit of spice.  You can dress it down for work, dress it up for date night…Love.
  • Pointy heels.  I absolutely adore a pointed heel this season. Sleek!

And these are my must haves this season. Tell me what yours are. And, as always, happy shopping! Xo

Paving Your Own Way by Samantha March

In 2009, I made the decision to spend a few hundred dollars and invest my time in creating a book blog, Chick Lit Plus. Two months after launching the site and dedicating countless hours to learning how to run a blog, reading and reviewing books, and making a social media presence, I was approached by Jackie Collins’ publicist and ask to review her books, plus phone interview Jackie. That was one of the first of many highlights from starting Chick Lit Plus, and my life has really changed with that one small decision of creating something that I was truly interested in.

After starting Chick Lit Plus, I got serious on writing my first novel, and published Destined to Fail in 2011. At the same time, I bought rights to a LLC and created an independent publishing company, Marching Ink. From there, Marching Ink has gone on to publish six titles, three of my own and three from other authors.

Around that same time, I decided to venture out further, and created CLP Blog Tours, a blog tour company mainly marketed towards independent authors looking for more promotional services to get the word out about their book. At the time I started there wasn’t a lot of companies yet and really nothing for indie authors, and the company took off faster than I expected and is still going strong today.

Like I said, my life has changed a lot since 2009 and starting a small and simple book blog. I learned that paving my own way and being my own boss is what I love to do, especially when I get to work in an industry that I care about so much. Books are my thing, plain and simple. I love reading, I love working with authors, and I love helping authors promote their work. It’s a satisfying feeling and one that I truly cherish.

Do you have something you love doing, a field that you are particularly interested in? Is there a way that you can connect with your passion? Think hard, do some research online, and open your mind. I’ve always wanted to be an author. I did not think when I graduated high school in 2005 that blogging would open me up to that world – heck, I really didn’t think that in 2009. But times are changing. People are carving their own paths by creating blogs, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts. Be smart, take your time, and work hard. If it’s truly your passion, you’ll take it seriously and strive hard to make your achievements. Good luck!

Samantha March is an author, editor, publisher, blogger, and all around book lover. She runs the popular book/women’s lifestyle blog ChickLitPlus, which keeps her bookshelf stocked with the latest reads and up to date on all things health, fitness, fashion, and celebrity related. In 2011 she launched her independent publishing company Marching Ink and has three published novels – Destined to Fail, The Green Ticket and A Questionable Friendship. When she isn’t reading, writing, or blogging, you can find her cheering for the Green Bay Packers. Samantha lives in Iowa with her husband and Vizsla puppy.

Samantha works heavily in the book community with her own endeavors, and also offers freelance editing and marketing services, plus works as a book marketing manager with Booktrope Publishing. In addition to her book duties, she is half of the duo The Cheeky Chicks, creating an Instagram page that quickly took off and features Samantha and friend Holly, as the explore Yoga, create fitness videos, and talk health and beauty.
