Brief Summary

Hilary had gotten used to dating the commitment-phobic Marc, thirteen years her senior. They had a great relationship–why rush into things? She saw no need to pressure him for marriage, believing that when the time was right, he would propose. But after they had been together for four years, their friends decided to take matters into their own hands, pushing Marc to propose and making Hilary realize how much she really did want to marry the man that she loved. Unfortunately, Marc still wasn’t ready–and their friends’ meddling in the form of a faux engagement party led to a disastrous New Year’s Eve that brought their relationship to an inevitable turning point.

Review:

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. It was a refreshing real story about love. I felt so connected to the main character, Hilary. This book is so honest about what happens in one’s head throughout the course of a relationship, the author does a good job of not sugar coating anything. It’s a great read that was hard to put down, I finished it in less than a day, I just needed to know what happened. I recommend this 5 star book as a book club book cause it would get you and your girlfriend’s thinking what you’d do in Hilary’s shoes or to anyone who likes a book about love that is real, xo!

“Love Always, Kate” coming April 2014…

SYNOPSIS

* Book #1 in the Love Always Series *
Dear Diary,

Leukemia’s been my life since I was eleven. Now, six years later, I want my life back. Only I’m not sure what that is. The test results came back today. 22,000. Which means I’m officially out of remission—again. I have three options:

1) Another round of chemo.
2) A super-new experimental drug.
3) Dump it all— forget the meds and treatments and enjoy the time I have left.

I think I know what I want. Then, in walks Damian, changing everything.

I mean, everything…

He’s got his own set of issues. It binds us together, you know? We understand what it’s like to lose what matters most in seconds. Still, the last thing I need is to have someone else to crush if I can’t fight hard enough. And the last thing he needs is someone else to grieve.

Never mind. I’m down to two options now.

Somehow I know that whichever one I choose, the result will be the same. With the sand in my hourglass seeping to the bottom, I hope there’s enough left to show Damian that life’s worth living.

Worth fighting for. Worth dying for.

Love Always,
Kate

Product Review!

I absolutely hated the first product I tried from the Olay Fresh Effects line. It may have been one of the WORST products I ever tried. So when I saw that my grocery store (of all places…!) had the Olay Fresh Effects face scrubber 1/2 off, I thought “well, if it sucks I won’t be too mad” and picked it up. I’m here to tell you that it in fact, does not suck at all-I love it! It’s cute and packs a punch. I like to use it after I remove all of my makeup with a makeup wipe. I started using it with the Shine, Shine Go Away product it came with, but I don’t have oily skin, so I wanted to try it with something else. I just picked up their new Out of this Swirled-deep pore clean & exfoliating scrub to use with it. (the jury is still out on this product, I’ve only used it once.) I would like to buy a Clarisonic one day when I have a good routine with my face washing (I know, I should have one by now, I’m almost 30. But, I’ll admit, I don’t wash my face everyday…I’m a terrible human.)But for now, my cute little Olay Fresh Effects face scrubber will do the trick! Xo

Review:

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This was a great quick read that pulls you in with it’s believable storyline and characters. This story is emotional and touching, it grips right at your heart strings. The beach scenes were a perfect way to “get away” from this cold, I always appreciate that! I recommend this 3 star book to anyone who is looking for a quick weekend read that has heart, xo!

Brief Summary:

Unemployed with no prospects, Dorian Wells is a young man trying desperately to stay afloat and be a good father to his toddler son. While already struggling to pay the bills and earn proper visitation with his child, Dorian’s tumultuous life is thrown into further upheaval when his mother is suddenly hospitalized.
On the verge of losing everything, it seems Dorian finally has a stroke of luck when he inadvertently learns of a potential opportunity with Jakkaru, a decadent, cut-throat organization that pays handsomely by the body count. Dorian’s lifelong friend, Rafe Ibadiah, is his ticket into Jakkaru and soon Dorian is training to be a professional hitman. But learning how to properly kill for a living is not as easy as it seems, and he quickly discovers the short arms of theory are a far reach from reality as the harrowing journey makes him question everything he believes.  The final test before full acceptance into Jakkaru is a contract Dorian must complete alone. Delivered to him via a small red envelope, the name inside propels the stakes of this dangerous game higher than ever before. Dorian will sacrifice anything for his son, but it’s not until he is ordered to do the unthinkable that he grasps the horrific depth of his commitment. Award-winning author, K. Baskett, expertly weaves a chilling tale of suspense in Envelope: Red that culminates in a shocking look at the prickly nuances of loyalty. Gritty and authentic, Dorian’s story is ultimately a poignant examination of the human condition – what lies within the heart of us all.

Review:

I received this in exchange for an honest review. The end of this book blew me away. I kinda figured it out, but couldn’t wait to see how it played out. The author really commits to the lifestyle of the main character. Any time I picked up my nook to read this story, I felt like it was a tv show I was tuning into. This book is very different from the other books I read for CLP, but I loved it. I loved the background of the whole “organization” it was really cool to get the inside scoop. I recommend this 4.5 star book to anyone who loves a gritty story about loyalty and likes a page turner, xo!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jack of all trades, master of none – save for the art of procrastination – K. Baskett lives by the motto, “Never do today what can be put off until tomorrow.” K. firmly believes that you aren’t really interested in the author’s hometown, spouse, children or pets, and has therefore decided to spare you the details. No Greater Illusion is the author’s award-winning debut novel. Envelope: Red is the gritty suspense-thriller with a heart-pounding conclusion.
