A book in review.

Brief Summary

Hilary had gotten used to dating the commitment-phobic Marc, thirteen years her senior. They had a great relationship–why rush into things? She saw no need to pressure him for marriage, believing that when the time was right, he would propose. But after they had been together for four years, their friends decided to take matters into their own hands, pushing Marc to propose and making Hilary realize how much she really did want to marry the man that she loved. Unfortunately, Marc still wasn’t ready–and their friends’ meddling in the form of a faux engagement party led to a disastrous New Year’s Eve that brought their relationship to an inevitable turning point.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. It was a refreshing real story about love. I felt so connected to the main character, Hilary. This book is so honest about what happens in one’s head throughout the course of a relationship, the author does a good job of not sugar coating anything. It’s a great read that was hard to put down, I finished it in less than a day, I just needed to know what happened. I recommend this 5 star book as a book club book cause it would get you and your girlfriend’s thinking what you’d do in Hilary’s shoes or to anyone who likes a book about love that is real, xo!

Howdy-Ho Ranger Joe! This week went by fairly quickly and I didn’t hate it. Not a whole lot of deck for the weekend, which is kinda nice since I had a pretty busy week. Let’s dive right into my top 5 from the week, xo!

I may have had whole wheat pancakes with bananas from IHOP twice this week. Can’t confirm or deny.

The girls and I did crossfit intro class three days in a row this week. It hurts to type this right now.

Say what you’d like, but I’m OBSESSED with this cover.

Loving gold pieces this spring. My new mix & match single earrings and double bar necklace are perfect.

“Love Always, Kate” coming April 2014…

* Book #1 in the Love Always Series *
Dear Diary,

Leukemia’s been my life since I was eleven. Now, six years later, I want my life back. Only I’m not sure what that is. The test results came back today. 22,000. Which means I’m officially out of remission—again. I have three options:

1) Another round of chemo.
2) A super-new experimental drug.
3) Dump it all— forget the meds and treatments and enjoy the time I have left.

I think I know what I want. Then, in walks Damian, changing everything.

I mean, everything…

He’s got his own set of issues. It binds us together, you know? We understand what it’s like to lose what matters most in seconds. Still, the last thing I need is to have someone else to crush if I can’t fight hard enough. And the last thing he needs is someone else to grieve.

Never mind. I’m down to two options now.

Somehow I know that whichever one I choose, the result will be the same. With the sand in my hourglass seeping to the bottom, I hope there’s enough left to show Damian that life’s worth living.

Worth fighting for. Worth dying for.

Love Always,

Born and raised in Iowa, d. Nichole King writes her stories close to home. There’s nothing like small-town Midwest scenery to create the perfect backdrop for an amazing tale. She wrote her first book in junior high and loved every second of it. However, she couldn’t bring herself to share her passion with anyone. She packed it away until one day, with the encouragement of her husband, she sat down at the computer and began to type. Now, she can’t stop. When not writing, d. is usually curled up with a book, scrapbooking, or doing yet another load of laundry. Along with her incredible husband, she lives in small-town Iowa with her four adorable children and their dog, Peaches. The Spirit is the first book of The Spirit Trilogy, and is her debut novel.

Product Review!

I absolutely hated the first product I tried from the Olay Fresh Effects line. It may have been one of the WORST products I ever tried. So when I saw that my grocery store (of all places…!) had the Olay Fresh Effects face scrubber 1/2 off, I thought “well, if it sucks I won’t be too mad” and picked it up. I’m here to tell you that it in fact, does not suck at all-I love it! It’s cute and packs a punch. I like to use it after I remove all of my makeup with a makeup wipe. I started using it with the Shine, Shine Go Away product it came with, but I don’t have oily skin, so I wanted to try it with something else. I just picked up their new Out of this Swirled-deep pore clean & exfoliating scrub to use with it. (the jury is still out on this product, I’ve only used it once.) I would like to buy a Clarisonic one day when I have a good routine with my face washing (I know, I should have one by now, I’m almost 30. But, I’ll admit, I don’t wash my face everyday…I’m a terrible human.)But for now, my cute little Olay Fresh Effects face scrubber will do the trick! Xo
